What’s new

Experience the most flowery of springs by visiting the 9th edition of the bulb flower show in the park of the Château de Groot-Bijgaarden.

This year we have been able to plant even more bulbs than in previous years.

It is not only the quantity that is impressive, but in particular the number of different varieties.  Almost 400 varieties of tulips, 35 types of hyacinth including the Double Delft Blue and Pink Pearl of M.J. de Groot from Lisse, 60 varieties of narcissus and also 60 varieties of other bulb flowers will colour the 14 hectares of the park.

Among the novelties, you will have the opportunity to discover two new varieties of tulips “Double crispa”, the triumph tulips Asahi, Royal Ten, Renegate, Hotplants, the new yellow parrot tulip Yoko’s Parrot, a hybrid of the famous Yokohama triumph tulip.  This tulip was supplied to us by a new exhibitor, Mts. Reijrink. There are also two more varieties of tulip produced by the Boon Brothers of Hem that are presented to you exclusively: they are new creations that still have no name. The majority of the novelties have been planted in the Exbury Garden.

The large meadow around the greenhouses comprises 54 round and rectangular flowerbeds that will fill your eyes with all the colours and shapes of spring flowers. In this garden alone, the gardeners have planted 70,000 bulbs in the soil.

The Labyrinth, behind the large greenhouse, is made up of 30,000 bulbs of 80 different varieties.

The outside of the Secret Garden will form a crown of pink-red tulips with a foreground of small yellow narcissuses and grape hyacinths. The interior flowerbed is a pretty blend by C.J. Zonneveld from Sassenheim.

In the French garden, made up of three terraces, many varieties planted in the rectangular flowerbeds ensure long and beautiful flowering. The central garden to the right is composed of 30 different varieties in mauve, pink, and blue tones with white narcissuses.

The Garland will be coloured with black, violet and pink tulips, and blue, violet and pink hyacinths, white narcissuses with pink collar and fritillaries. There too, many varieties guarantee a long period of flowering.

This year throughout the walk you will spot many Fritillaria Imperialis (known to keep moles at bay).

The de Boer garden will fill you by amazement by the audacious mix of colours.

Around the Dungeon, you will be able to admire some 90 varieties as well as a large white flowerbed.

Every week a spectacle made up of 150 floral compositions will be presented in the Great Greenhouse. Every Friday, a renowned artist from the Netherlands and his team will change the bouquets according to the theme of the week.

One more reason to come to admire the park in various stages of bloom.
